A newborn baby believed to be one day old has been rescued from a pit latrine at a rental house in Ogembo town, Kisii County.
According to Citizen Digital, one of the residents heard the baby's cries emanating from the latrine and raised the alarm.
"The resident alerted others, and the community members quickly came to the baby's aid," they said.
The infant was taken to Gucha Sub County Hospital, where medical staff reported that the baby is now in stable condition.
