The Nairobi Hospital Admitting Staff Association has announced a strike set to begin on Monday, September 16, 2024, demanding the resignation of the board of directors.

In a notice, the Kenya Hospital Association expressed solidarity with the hospital's doctors, stating that they will continue the strike until the alleged crisis at the facility is resolved. They emphasized that no new admissions will be accepted once the strike begins, and medical care will be limited to patients already admitted.

"The public is hereby informed that no new admissions will be accepted at Nairobi Hospital. Doctors will only attend to patients in the wards, their private clinics, and emergency cases," the notice stated.

The Association also urged the public to support the doctors' cause ahead of an Extraordinary General Meeting scheduled for September 18, 2024.

This action follows accusations of corruption and poor governance at Nairobi Hospital. The Kenya Hospital Association has alleged that the institution is being mismanaged due to conflicts of interest, cronyism, and nepotism.

In response, the hospital denied the allegations, calling them a "frustration-fueled smear campaign" by individuals attempting to undermine the hospital's governance for personal gain. The hospital's board has challenged those making the accusations to provide evidence to hold any wrongdoers accountable.
