Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump launched an attack on pop star Taylor Swift on Sunday, expressing his "hate" for her just days after she publicly endorsed his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris. In an all-caps post on his Truth Social account, Trump declared, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

This came shortly after Swift informed her 284 million Instagram followers that she would be voting for Vice President Kamala Harris, praising Harris for championing causes she strongly believes in. Trump's initial response to Swift's endorsement was to downplay it, saying he was "not a Taylor fan." However, as polls indicated Harris gaining ground in the lead-up to the closely contested November 5 election, Trump's attacks on Swift intensified.

Swift's endorsement of Harris quickly gained traction, with her Instagram post amassing over 9 million likes, sparking speculation that her influence could sway the election in Harris' favor. In response to Trump's post, Harris' running mate, Tim Walz, took to X, encouraging Swift's fans, or "Swifties," to help defeat Trump, referring to him as "the smallest man who ever lived," a nod to one of Swift's song titles.

Trump's comments ignited a wave of support for Swift, with fans proclaiming their love for the singer on X, while others backed Trump by criticizing President Joe Biden's administration. The feud between Trump and Swift dates back years, with Trump previously expressing his dislike for her after she endorsed Democratic candidates in the 2018 midterm elections, saying he liked her music "about 25% less."
