The Archdiocese of Nairobi has refuted reports claiming that Cardinal John Njue has passed away, calling the rumors baseless and untrue.
In a statement issued on Friday, Reverend Wallace Ng'ang'a, the Auxiliary Bishop of Nairobi, confirmed that the Cardinal is alive and urged Kenyans to disregard the false information circulating online. Earlier in the day, rumors of the Cardinal's death trended in Kenya, causing widespread concern.
Reverend Ng'ang'a also urged the public to avoid sharing unverified information, especially on sensitive topics, and to ensure they confirm the facts before spreading any news. "We kindly ask everyone to refrain from sharing or believing unverified reports, particularly on serious matters like this. Any official updates regarding His Eminence's health or other matters will be shared through the Church's official channels," the statement read.
The Archdiocese also encouraged continued prayers for Cardinal Njue and wished him ongoing health and blessings.
