A family in Anduro village, Nyandiwa sub-location, Alego-Usonga sub-county, is in mourning after their kin was struck by lightning.
According to official reports, 17-year-old Emanuel Otieno was a form three student at Ambira Boys High School.
According to Joseph Otieno Aloo, Assistant Chief of Nyandiwa Sub-location, the teen who had been sent home for school fees had attended a church service with his cousins on Sunday till approximately 4 p.m., when he used his father's motorbike to drop off his relatives in Siaya town.

He said that Emanuel was barely 400 meters away when lightning hit, and the boy's cousins fled unharmed.
The cousins raised the alarm, and the youngster was brought to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
The administrator said, "The incident is mysterious because it was not raining at the time of the incident."
The body of the deceased was taken to the mortuary, awaiting burial plans.
