Several Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Mt. Kenya region who initially supported the motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have now reversed their stance.
MPs, including Geoffrey Wandeto (Tetu), Rahab Mukami (Nyeri), and Njoroge Wainaina (Kieni), have publicly announced their decision to withdraw support for the motion.
Rahab Mukami emphasized the importance of unity, stating, "After reflecting on the matter, I realized this is an issue that the Deputy President and the President can resolve through dialogue because Kenya is bigger than any of us. The people of Nyeri have spoken, and they do not want the Deputy President removed."

Geoffrey Wandeto echoed these sentiments: "When we consulted our constituents, they expressed that impeachment is not a priority. They want us to focus on more pressing issues. Therefore, I will be voting NO."
The shift in position comes just a day after their names were publicly linked to the impeachment motion. These MPs from Gachagua's home region now advocate for reconciliation between the President and his Deputy.

MP Mukami called for peace, urging the Deputy President to seek forgiveness from the President and for both leaders to engage in talks to resolve their differences.
However, not all MPs from Gachagua's stronghold share the same view. Eric Wamumbi (Mathira), Wambugu Wainaina (Othaya), and Duncan Mathenge (Nyeri Town) still support the motion.
Embu Woman Representative Pamela Njoki also changed her position, issuing a formal statement retracting her support for the motion after consultations with Embu residents.
