Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua asked his family for forgiveness for the public scrutiny they've faced due to his political struggles.
Gachagua apologized to his wife, Dorcas Rigathi, and their two sons, acknowledging how his political battles have exposed their private lives.
"I apologize for the unwarranted attention. Your privacy has been violated as I navigate my political challenges, but there’s little you can do when married to a politician," he said.

He expressed deep regret over the invasion of his family’s privacy, revealing that his political rivals had targeted his late brother’s assets and even publicized details from his will.
Gachagua pleaded for his family to be spared from his political turmoil, urging his critics to focus solely on him.
"It pains me to see my late brother’s hard-earned properties exposed in the media. I wish those pursuing me would leave him in peace," he stated.
Additionally, Gachagua apologized to President William Ruto and the Kenyan public for any mistakes he may have made in his role and asked for forgiveness for any perceived wrongdoings committed by his wife in her efforts to support boy-child initiatives.
As he faces an impending impeachment motion in Parliament, Gachagua has enlisted a team of 20 advocates, including senior legal counsels, to defend him against charges like gross misconduct, corruption, and constitutional violations.
The motion will be debated in the National Assembly, with a decision expected by Tuesday before the Senate reviews the case. Public dissatisfaction with the government’s priorities, particularly its failure to address the economy and key policies, has intensified the political climate.
