The Council of Governors (CoG) has appointed Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi as the chairperson, replacing Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.
Abdullahi takes over the mantle when devolved units deal with critical issues such as healthcare and resource mobilization, intending to improve coordination between national and county governments.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has been appointed Vice Chair, while Nandi Governor Stephen Sang will serve as the Chief Whip.
Together, the three will steer the CoG's agenda, ensuring that counties continue receiving the assistance and resources required to drive Kenya's devolution efforts.
The new Council of Governors leadership team includes key members appointed to lead critical committees.
