Machakos senior principal magistrate James Obura has ordered the detention of the boda boda operator accused of raping a client in Machakos County for 14 days to allow for investigations.
The accused, Timothy Mule, did not take a plea when he appeared before the magistrate.
The court heard that the rider allegedly carried a female passenger on Saturday night and, instead of taking her to her destination, changed directions and raped her near Machakos town.
The woman also suffered a broken arm and deep leg cuts in the incident.
Speaking to media at the Machakos Level V Hospital on Sunday, Allan Musembi, the chairman of boda boda riders in Machakos county said the rider was arrested by locals who reportedly found him in the act.
