Lawyer Paul Muite, lead counsel for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has requested that the cases challenging the DP's impeachment be referred to Chief Justice Martha Koome to form a three-judge bench for the hearing.

Muite contends that the issues presented before Justice Lawrence Mugambi are substantial and require thorough consideration.

He emphasized that the case is not merely about the National Assembly's numbers but the need to demonstrate "gross violations of the Constitution," which is crucial.

Muite also highlighted the importance of Article 1, stressing that the court must consider the sovereignty of the people who elected both the president and deputy president.

The Law Society of Kenya also joined the case as an interested party.
