Super metro conductor Gerald Mwangi, famously known as Makanga Bae, who gained widespread attention on social media for his striking appearance, has tragically passed away.

This is after he was recently involved in a car accident that resulted in his hospitalization, and unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries yesterday at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

This comes a day after his family appealed for blood donation.

Mwangi, 28, gained social media fame after a video of him collecting bus fare in a Supermetro matatu went viral, with many people surprised by his appearance, which contrasted with the typical image of a tout.

Despite holding a degree in Catering, Mwangi turned to the matatu industry due to a lack of employment opportunities, earning a daily wage of around Ksh 700-1,000.

In a previous interview, Mwangi shared that his job as a tout allowed him to improve his living situation and provide for his family.

"This job helped me move from a single room to a bedsitter, and now to a one-bedroom apartment," he said.
