The National Assembly is scheduled to hold a special session this Friday, ahead of a planned short recess next week. According to the order paper, MPs will go on recess starting October 22, the day after Mashujaa Day celebrations.

During Wednesday's morning session, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah is expected to move a motion to approve changes to the parliamentary calendar. The motion seeks approval for the short recess to begin on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, and for the House to hold sittings on Friday, October 18, 2024, with a morning session at 9:30 a.m. and an afternoon session at 2:30 p.m.

The special sitting will focus on "priority business," including mediated bills. This session will take place a day after the conclusion of the impeachment trial of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
