The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared Egypt malaria-free.
The WHO certifies countries that have demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt that the chain of indigenous malaria transmission by Anopheles mosquitoes has been disrupted for at least the past three years.
According to the WHO, 44 nations and one territory worldwide have been accorded this designation.
