Police have arrested a suspect and recovered more than 335kg of bhang in two separate security operations in Machakos and Isiolo counties.
In Athi River, Machakos County, eight gunny bags containing 115kg of cannabis, estimated at Kes 3,450,000 in street value, were recovered in a building under construction at Kwa Mang’eli through a tip-off from a member of the public.
A guard deployed at the site was arrested as police hunt for the owner of the house, who has since been identified as Susan Muya.
Elsewhere, a multi-agency team based at Kinna VCP within Garbatulla intercepted a Nissan X-trail based on an intelligence report that the vehicle was ferrying narcotics along the Isiolo-Modogoshe highway.
The driver tried to evade the police, leading to a chase that saw the vehicle immobilized half a kilometer away.

The two occupants of the vehicle were able to escape on foot, leaving behind 44 bales of cannabis, each weighing 5kg, estimated at Kes 6 million in street value.
Exhibits from both operations have been processed and preserved as evidence, as heightened operations against drug use and trafficking continue across the country.
