Manchester United has officially parted ways with manager Erik ten Hag following a disappointing start to the season.
The club, which has dropped to 14th place in the Premier League standings, announced the decision on Monday after a 1-0 defeat at West Ham. This loss marked United's fourth in nine league games, and They have managed only one victory in their last eight matches across all competitions.
The club released a statement acknowledging Ten Hag’s departure: “Erik ten Hag has stepped down as Manchester United’s men’s first-team manager.” Appointed in April 2022, Ten Hag led the team to notable achievements, including the 2023 Carabao and 2024 FA Cup.

“We appreciate Erik’s contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” the club’s statement continued. Former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will serve as interim head coach, working with the existing coaching staff until a permanent replacement is named.
Ten Hag’s departure follows United’s worst season start since the 1989/90 campaign. The pressure on the 54-year-old Dutch manager intensified after recent poor performances, despite previous backing from co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, who had shown support after their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City last May.
