The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 20,000 internship opportunities for Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers to support the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
In a notice, TSC explained that the 12-month program will seek to provide unemployed teachers with practical experience and exposure to the work environment.
The interns will be paid a monthly stipend of Kes 20,000, subject to statutory deductions.
Upon completing the program, the teachers will be awarded a certificate.
The notice posted on the Commission’s websites further indicates that interested teachers must submit their applications online through the TSC website before November 4, 2024.

To qualify for recruitment, teachers must be Kenyan citizens, registered with the Commission, and holders of at least a Diploma in Education with a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ (plus).
All applicants will be required to present original academic and professional certificates, including a copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate, a copy of the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card (where applicable), and a copy of the National Identity Card (ID) or Passport.
Other documents include two color passport-size photographs, a copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN), and Personal Accident Insurance to cover personal risks during the internship.
Further, the applicants must be unemployed and should not have previously been employed by the Commission on permanent and pensionable terms.
TSC notified all applicants that successful candidates would be posted to serve at any Junior Secondary School in the county where they were interviewed or in any part of the Country where the vacancy exists.
