A second suspect was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Wells Fargo manager Willis Onyango Ayieko, after a gunfight near Siaya Town. Police recovered Ayieko’s stolen pistol from the suspect, a woman who was with her boyfriend—the main suspect in the case—during the confrontation. The boyfriend managed to escape, though police noted he sustained injuries, leaving behind Ayieko's pistol.

According to authorities, the couple was driving a salon car when they were intercepted, sparking the exchange of gunfire. Bloodstains at the scene suggest the suspect was injured, and police are urging local medical facilities to report any individuals with gunshot wounds. "We believe the main suspect is injured, and any health facility that encounters a patient with such wounds should notify us," said an officer involved in the investigation.

Following the shootout, major roads around Siaya Town were blocked as police began a search. The woman has been detained for questioning, marking the second arrest in the investigation after a man was apprehended in Nairobi’s Dandora area on Monday. Police stated that the Dandora suspect, tracked to a hideout rented with crime proceeds, was linked to the scene using forensic evidence. The ongoing investigation is led by a team from the DCI's Homicide and CRIB units.

The Dandora suspect, reportedly an ex-convict from the Khwisero area, allegedly used Ayieko’s phone to withdraw funds from an M-Pesa outlet. Police confirmed Ayieko died from head injuries, with Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor stating the injuries led to brain bleeding. The body, discovered in a stream on October 23, had animal-inflicted damage due to water exposure.

The autopsy, conducted at Lee Funeral Home and attended by family and officials, aligned with these findings. Ayieko, a licensed gun holder, had been missing since October 21, and his body was discovered partially clothed with facial and abdominal bruises, suggesting he was assaulted elsewhere before being left at the scene.
