Hashim Dagane Muhumed, the main suspect in the recent Eastleigh murders of three women, is set to remain in police custody for 21 days as investigations proceed.

Dagane was brought before the Makadara Law Courts, where detectives requested extended detention due to concerns that he could flee if released.

Officials noted that he had previously relocated after allegedly committing the crimes, emphasizing the need for additional time to investigate thoroughly.

Dagane was apprehended by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers on Sunday following a probe by the Criminal Research and Investigations Bureau. After evading authorities for twelve days, the suspect was tracked to a hideout in Nairobi’s Kamukunji area.

CCTV footage captured him entering a building in Eastleigh, sparking an intensified search effort. Investigators traced Dagane’s movements through forensic analysis and multiple phone numbers he allegedly used to mislead authorities.

Court records reveal that Dagane possessed several falsified documents, including a fake Kenyan ID. It was discovered that he had previously served as a police officer in a neighboring country before relocating to Kenya, where he worked as a school driver in Eastleigh.

Allegations have also surfaced suggesting Dagane was previously incarcerated for a murder involving a family member.

The investigation aims to determine if Dagane acted independently or had accomplices. A second suspect, now in custody, reportedly assists authorities with their inquiries. Detectives are actively working to establish a motive and ensure justice for the victims—Amina Abidarashid, Nusayba Abdi, and Warris Daud—whose bodies were found across Nairobi and Machakos.

The case has sparked heightened concern in the community, which is seeking answers and justice for the victims amidst these unsettling developments.
