Police destroyed 670 kilograms of bhang, worth over Kes 12 million shillings, at the Segel area following a court order in Marsabit County.
According to Marsabit County Commissioner James Kamau, illicit brew worth an estimated Kes 150,000 was destroyed in the ongoing war on drugs and alcohol abuse.
Police commander Leonard Kimaiyo, officials from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), and court officials also supervised the destruction of the highly addictive substance.
The authorities said the move is aimed at ensuring that the outlawed substances do not find their way back into the market as a way of supporting the fight against drug and substance abuse.
The authorities added that detectives across the country remain on high alert to ensure that the continued war against drugs yields the desired results.
