Mudavadi’s diplomatic engagement in Ethiopia follows an official campaign launch held in Nairobi on August 27, 2024, led by President William Ruto. The statement emphasizes that “this engagement with the Permanent Representatives Committee of the AU is a continuation of the formal launch by President William Samoei Ruto of the former Prime Minister’s candidacy on August 27 this year.”
At the event, Raila will outline his vision and strategic priorities for Africa’s socio-economic progress. This platform allows him to connect with African Union stakeholders, forming alliances and presenting his transformative agenda for the continent.
The reception is expected to lay the foundation for Raila’s campaign, generating crucial support from African leaders as he promotes his transformative vision for the African Union. President Ruto initially announced Raila as Kenya’s candidate for the AUC Chairperson position on August 27, in a ceremony attended by several East African Presidents.
