A tragic incident occurred Monday evening in Zhuhai, southern China, where a car crashed into pedestrians, resulting in 35 fatalities and injuring 43 others.
The attack took place at the Zhuhai Sports Centre, where the driver, a 62-year-old man named Fan, allegedly drove a small SUV through the sports complex’s entrance.
He reportedly targeted people exercising on internal roads. Police initially reported injuries on Monday, but details about the extent of the attack and the number of casualties were confirmed on Tuesday.

Officers discovered Fan in his vehicle with self-inflicted wounds, attempting to harm himself with a knife. He was immediately restrained and taken to a hospital, where he remains in a coma and is currently unable to be interrogated, police said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for comprehensive medical care for the injured and urged authorities to pursue legal action against the suspect as soon as possible.
The incident happened as the city hosted China’s largest airshow, showcasing advancements in China’s civil and military aerospace sectors.
