Rafael Nadal officially retired from professional tennis on Tuesday during the Davis Cup in Malaga.
The 38-year-old Spaniard ended his 23-year career with an emotional farewell after Spain’s quarter-final loss to the Netherlands.
Despite a hard-fought singles match, Nadal was defeated by Botic van de Zandschulp 6-4, 6-4. In contrast, the deciding doubles match saw the Netherlands clinch victory, bringing Nadal’s professional journey to a close.

Carlos Alcaraz, Spain’s rising tennis star, praised Nadal’s impact, calling his legacy "eternal." “It’s almost impossible to follow in his footsteps, but he’s been an inspiration for tennis and sport,” Alcaraz said.
