The body of Missing  Masinde Muliro University lecturer, who went missing on Saturday, has been recovered from the Jordan River.

According to Ebulonga Chief Evans Ouya, Dr. Omuteche disappeared after visiting his farm near the river. Concerned family members raised the alarm, prompting an extensive three-day search that culminated in the discovery of his body approximately 15 kilometers downstream, near the river’s intersection with the Yala River.

Chief Ouya revealed that the late academic had gone to the farm to prepare a cowshed and collect sticks but failed to return home. Upon inspection, the family noticed partially cut sticks in his field, with one stick floating in the river.

This led to suspicions of a possible drowning, prompting an intensified search.

Divers recovered Dr. Omuteche’s body on Monday afternoon, confirming the family’s worst fears. Luanda detectives are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

The body has been moved to the Itando Mission Hospital morgue as police probe further into the tragedy.

Chief Ouya mourned the late lecturer, highlighting his contributions to education and the community. "Dr. Omuteche was a pillar in our society, sponsoring underprivileged students to achieve their dreams of higher education and providing employment opportunities for local youths through his development projects," he said.

Dr. Omuteche’s untimely demise is a significant loss to the academic and local community. Investigations continue to determine the exact cause of his death.
