Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over the chaos that erupted during a funeral in Limuru.

The incident, which took place on November 28, involved the attendance of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The senator has been directed to appear before the Nyeri Regional Criminal Investigations Officer on Friday, November 29, at 10:00 a.m.

The summons cites allegations of malicious damage to property and injuries to attendees at the Bibirioni Boys High School playground during the funeral.

In his response, Thang’wa dismissed the move as intimidation but confirmed he would honour the summons.

He further claimed the chaos was part of an assassination attempt targeting the former deputy president, raising concerns over escalating tensions in the region.
