A 16-year-old boy has died after being carried away while attempting to cross a flooding river in Homa Bay County.
The grade 7 student from Olasi, Ndhiwa, is the latest casualty of the region's continuous torrential rains.
According to official reports, the teen drowned as he was attempting to cross the overflowing River Ambasa.
According to Area Assistant Chief James Owiti, the boy was with his two siblings at the time of the incident. Despite their best attempts, they could not save him from the rapid stream.
The Assistant Chief has asked government authorities to aid in the recover the boy's body.
