Former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua has recently been at the center of public discussions regarding his mental health journey and path to recovery.
In a heartfelt interview, Kimani’s father shared an emotional message from his son that deeply moved him and left him questioning the state of their relationship.
Speaking on Oga Obinna’s platform, Kimani’s father revealed that he has neither seen nor spoken to his son since Kimani left a rehabilitation facility.
He revealed a devastating text message Kimani sent him, warning him to stay away.
Did you read this?
"Obinna, it is painful, because since he left the rehab, I've never seen him. We haven't seen each other. I've only seen him writing me texts. Big ones. Paragraphs. Never come near me," Kimani’s father shared.
Struggling to make sense of the situation, he described how the message expressed resentment and a deep-seated sense of betrayal.
In the text, Kimani accused his father of causing him irreparable harm and vowed never to communicate with him again.
"I'm sorry, Dad, but I can no longer speak to you. You've done me enough damage. Never call this number. You think I'm stupid because you think I don't know what you've done," the message read.
Kimani also issued a stern warning to his father, declaring he would not tolerate any contact and would rather isolate himself than endure what he called "snakes" in his life.
"If you ever come anywhere close to me or my property from this moment on, you will end up in jail. I'm not interested in hearing what you have to say. I will leave this godforsaken village tomorrow. I would rather spend Christmas alone than with snakes," the message concluded.
Kimani’s father admitted to feeling crushed by his son’s words and confused about the reasons behind them.
“After all we have done for years. The reason was? I don’t know. He was in the village with the sister and the mother because we are preparing for Christmas. So we were all to go to the village,” he lamented.
