A tragic shooting incident occurred on Sunday night at the Gigiri police canteen in Nairobi’s Westlands area, where a drunk police officer fatally shot a colleague and wounded another.
The suspect, identified as Constable Limo Nahason—reportedly a protection officer assigned to Parliament—opened fire at the bar inside the canteen. He shot Constable Eric Munga of Runda Police Station in the chest and Corporal Philip Kae, who is attached to the Judiciary, in the lower abdomen.
According to a police report filed just before midnight at Gigiri Police Station, the victims were rushed to Aga Khan University Hospital. Unfortunately, Munga was pronounced dead upon arrival, while Kae was admitted in stable condition.
Authorities recovered a Jericho pistol (serial number 44332745) loaded with 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition from the suspect.
The firearm is being held as evidence for ballistic examination. Additionally, officers found a spent cartridge and a Parliament access card in the suspect’s possession.
