President William Ruto has once again addressed his ongoing political rivalry with former Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, asserting that he remains the dominant force in the Mt Kenya region.

Speaking in Maua, Meru County, Ruto emphasized his longstanding relationship with the region, stating that it spans over two decades and cannot be undermined by political opposition.

“My bond with the people of Mt Kenya is over 20 years strong. No one can disrupt it,” Ruto affirmed.

He reassured residents of his commitment to fulfilling his campaign pledges.

“You placed your trust in me, and I will continue delivering results that exceed expectations,” he added.

Accompanied by key political figures such as Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Tourism CS Rebecca Miano, ICT CS William Kabogo, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, and Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma, Ruto engaged with local leaders on pressing issues.

During the event, Governor Mutuma requested the reinstatement of former Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya and Mithika Linturi into government. Ruto responded, saying, “Discussions are ongoing. I assure you, we have a plan.”

This comes amid heightened political friction following Gachagua’s impeachment and the removal of his allies from influential parliamentary roles. Gachagua has mobilized his supporters in retaliation, accusing Ruto’s administration of dishonesty and unfulfilled promises.

Before Ruto’s visit, Gachagua urged him to acknowledge that former President Uhuru Kenyatta initiated most Mt Kenya projects.

As part of his weeklong tour, Ruto is set to visit Laikipia, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, and Kiambu, inspecting development projects in infrastructure, housing, agriculture, and energy.
