The police in Kisii have launched an investigation following the tragic events witnessed there on Saturday night as teens supporting Azimio and the UDA clashed.

At least ten incident victims on Saturday had knife wounds; they are at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Simba Arati, the governor of Kisii, claimed that security forces were reluctant to ease the tension between the opposing sides when speaking in the hospital where the youths are currently receiving treatment.

Sadly, people who maintain peace and order are now lying in bed in this hospital under the full gaze of police officers.

Arati blamed Interior Ministry Secretary Kithure Kindiki for the inability to stop the violence in Kisii.

"I'm pleading with Kindiki—you've won the elections, and now it's time to mend the social divisions. The man added that you couldn't combat banditry while police-protected criminals were mushrooming all over town.

To overthrow him, opposition politicians utilized an "emerging gang" to cause mayhem, and the governor threatened to use other means to put them down.

Some of those hurt reported to Waza News that a group of youths stormed the boda boda offices behind Kisii Assembly with machetes and pangas during what appeared to be a leadership conflict.

Before the ugly conflict, a group of boda boda drivers staged rallies inside Kisii town to criticize the Azimio Rally held in Kisii's Gusii Stadium on Friday under Fred's leadership. Nunda, a "boda boda leader."

Kisii County Commander Charles Kases told Citizen Digital over the phone that Kisii Central Deputy OCPD also sustained critical wounds while attempting to end the overnight rioting.

Kases said the Nunda group had permission to plan nonviolent protests while police led the delegation through the Kisii CBD.

ODM leader Raila Odinga denounced the attacks in Kisii and accused a handful of Kenya Kwanza leaders of inciting the violence in a statement posted Saturday night.
