People should be alert of the ongoing heat wave by the Kenya Red Cross, which has highlighted dire consequences. One of the safety recommendations is always to drink lots of water, even if one is not thirsty. They advised people to use an umbrella or seek shade from a tree to protect the skin from the sunlight.
In addition to drinking plenty of water, the organization recommended Kenyans dress in loose-fitting clothing, use fans or air conditioning to stay calm, and take cool baths or showers rather than hot ones.
Instead, they advised wearing light-coloured, loose clothing and a hat to shield your skin from the sun.
According to the weather forecast, the daytime temperature will be on the high side from February 14–20, 2023. According to Kenya Met, countrywide average temperatures are between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius.
The Red Cross advised Kenyans to stay indoors during the warmest hours of the day.
They said to schedule your outdoor activities early or late in the day when it's cooler.
The Emergency contact in case of a heat stroke emergency is 0700395395 or 1199.
