Samson Cherargei, a senator from Nandi and a steadfast supporter of President William Ruto, defended Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's yesterday controversial statement that those who voted for them are the ones who will benefit from government appointments and more development, saying that everyone will reap what they sow.

Cherargei has defended Gachagua's comments by informing Kenyans that it is true that government is like a business and that democracy is about paying supporters and loyalists in his most recent message on Twitter.

Hence, the president will deliver development to all Kenyans regardless of their voting habits, much like a corporate corporation does base on performance. Yet, when distributing government jobs, everyone will "harvest where they sowed" (utavuna ulichopanda), meaning that people will be nominees to the government following their voting record.

"Democracy is about paying your fans and followers for their best efforts, just like a corporation would. Yet regardless of how Kenyans vote in the elections in 2022, H.E. Ruto's government will give services to all citizens of Kenya. A ulichopanda tavuna!" He spoke.
