224 candidates have been shortlisted for the post of Chief Administrative Secretary(CAS) by the Public Service Commission days after the court dismissed a case filed by the Law Society of Kenya, challenging the creation of the CAS position.

Some of those shortlisted for the role are renowned journalists in the Country at the peak of their careers.

Linda Ogutu, former TV presenter and the host is among the journalists shortlisted for the role.

  The TV queen took a sabbatical leave from the station upon her appointment as the head of the Football Kenya Federation Secretariat transition committee.

Upon her appointment, to the committee, she took a sabbatical leave from KTN that saw her forced out by the Standard Media Group as her new job conflicted with her role at the station.

 Her tenure at the Federation lapsed in October 2022.

 Taking the news of her nomination to her Twitter, Linda Ogutu has asked Kenyans to pray for her.



President William Ruto’s digital strategist Dennis Itumbi has also been nominated for the CAS position. He was very instrumental in Ruto’s win in the 2022 presidential elections.

Further, former KTN news anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga has also been nominated for the CAS position.

On exiting the station, she vied for the Member of Parliament seat for the Matuga constituency on a UDA ticket but lost.

Additionally, former KBC presenter Bonnie Musambi has also made it to the nomination list for the CAS position.

Prior to his appointment, he vied for the Kitui Central parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket but lost


The interviews for the positions are set to begin on March 1, and successful applicants will serve on contracts determined by President William Ruto.

The Public Service Commission(PSC) received 5,000 applications for the 224 positions.

 Kenyans have been invited to submit petitions regarding the shortlisted candidates.
