Popular streaming site Netflix has lowered its subscription for its users in Kenya and the sub-Saharan region to ensure they get value for their money.
On the 21st of February, the company announced that its mobile plan would cost Sh200, down from Sh300, and its basic plan would cost Sh300, down from Sh700. Subscribers will pay Sh700 for the standard procedure, down from Sh1,100, and Sh1,100 for the premium plan, down from Sh1,450.
Part of their statement reads, "Our goal is simple: to offer a wide variety of quality shows and films, curated for you," Netflix said, adding new members who sign up will see the latest prices immediately. The update will roll out to existing members from their next billing cycle over the coming weeks. Existing members will be notified by email, [as well as within the Netflix app 30 days before the new prices are applied to them. The exact timing will depend on the specific member's billing cycle."
Netflix has also reduced its prices in Sub-Saharan Africa. For this region, the mobile plan will be priced at $2.99 instead of $3.99, and the basic technique will cost $3.99 instead of $7.99.its users will pay $7.99 for the standard plan, down from $9.99, and $9.99 for the premium plan, down from $11.99.

Netflix has been receiving a lot of criticism over the past month for their plan to stop password sharing and limit the use to one household. A Netflix subscriber can currently add up to five accounts to their account. Netflix announced that Starting in early 2023, those profiles will be converted into paid sub-accounts.
This model has already been implemented by the streaming platform in Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. Consumers in those countries must pay an additional $2.99 monthly to add more homes to their accounts. Netflix did not say the price would be the same in the United States.
Some subscribers have cancelled their subscription to the serving, terming it expensive and not worth their price.
