The Government of Australia opened the new Australian High Commission offices in Nairobi yesterday.
The offices will also serve as a base for Auatrali'a relations with Somalia, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania, which Auatralia accredited.
The opening is a significant milestone in Australia's government relations with Kenya.
Although Australia has had a diplomatic presence in Kenya for some time, its investment in this building shows how seriously it takes its relationship with its leaders and citizens.
Dr Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, said that opening Australia's new embassy sends a clear message about Australia's commitment to the region and Kenya over the long term.

"We should seize this opportunity to continue working together, especially now more than ever as the world arena is facing daunting challenges like climate change and conflicts, among other global challenges," said Mutua.
The CS reaffirmed that the new Australian High Commission building is a symbol of a renewed commitment to continue deepening friendship and enhancing mutual trust as well as advancing the implementation of development cooperation between the two countries for the mutual benefit of the two countries their people.
Tim Watts, MP, assistant minister of foreign affairs for Australia, responded that it was an honour to be in Nairobi for the formal opening of the Australian High Commission building.
He pointed out that Australia and Kenya have been partners for nearly 60 years, and the opening of this new High Commission is evidence of their close cooperation and long-standing connection.
"The work of this High Commission will build on our cooperation with Kenya to respond to global challenges and deepen our combined efforts on economic, multilateral, environmental and security issues," stated Watts.
Further, the Assistant Minister appreciated the support the Government of Kenya provided to enable Australia's continued presence in Nairobi.
