“We forgive him for many things, but not for misleading Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said.“Please respect our former President. Even if he (Uhuru) was misled and the economy was ruined, he is our respected leader. We want his respect to be upheld, he should not be taken to rallies. It ruins our respect as Kenyans,” Gachagua said.

Deputy Rigathi Gachagua was referencing Uhuru, saying he still supports Raila Odinga even though he has retired from politics.

“Even though I have left active politics, I am still a follower of Raila. I supported him that time (during campaigns), and I will still support him because I believe he is an honest person who wants to unite Kenyans. It is democratic and my right to support whoever I want,” said Uhuru

“I am retired but not tired. You know my party leader is Raila.” Uhuru said

Raila Odinga has been holding rallies in various towns in the country and has given the rutos administration a 14 days ultimatum to lower the cost of living or he will call for mass action. The azimio leader is opposing the kenya kwanza administration and has refused to acknowledge it, terming their rule as illegitimate and has called for their resignation.

The azimio la Umoja coalition leader claims he won the 2022 presidential elections after gaining over 2 million votes against his primary opponent, president William ruto. Raila accuses the IEBC of colluding with the kenya kwanza team to announce ruto as the President. Last week the former prime minister organised a prayers session for the IEBC
