One person died, and 42 others were injured after the bus they were in crashed and landed in a ditch in the Karai area along the nairobi Naivasha highway.
The bus was headed to Nakuru from Nairobi when the accident happened. Naivasha sub-county police commander Samuel Waweru said injured passengers were rushed to the Naivasha Sub-county Hospital for medical treatment and checkup.
“Initial reports indicate that the driver of the ill-fated bus lost control of the vehicle at the notorious black spot, occasioning the accident,The vehicle veered off the road, rolled and landed in a ditch.” he said. He added that one person died while waiting to be attended to at the hospital. Kenya Red Cross and police officers assisted in transporting the injured to the hospital.
The area is known blackspot and has witnessed so many accidents. In 2017, over 40 people died when a tanker carrying highly flammable petrol exploded, engulfing several vehicles on its path. The driver of the tanker lost control, ramming into several cars.
