Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been declared the winner in the recently concluded nigeria presidential election after getting 8.8 million votes cast.
"This is a serious mandate – I hereby accept it. To serve you… To work with you and make Nigeria great," Tinubu said as supporters cheered "Jagaban", a local chieftain title.
"I appeal to my fellow contestants to let us team together. It is the only nation we have. It is one country that we must build together," he added.
Bola campaigned on all progressive congress which is the ruling party and is set to take over from Buhari, who is stepping down after serving his two terms as the president of africas biggest economy.

The 2023 presidential elections are said to be the most contested elections since the country transitioned from military rule to democracy. He was closely followed by the main opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar who got 6.9 million votes, while a new candidate in the scene, peter obi, came in third after getting 6.1 million votes.
The former two-term governor of Lagos, widely regarded as the most powerful political godfather in contemporary Nigerian history, lost his home state of Lagos to Obi but ultimately succeeded in his bid to become Nigeria's fifth president since the return of democracy in 1999.
Three main opposition parties, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and African Democratic Congress (CDC), have, however, disputed the presidential election results and called for the cancellation of the results calling the election a sham election.
Nigeria recorded the lowest voter turnout ever despite africas richest man Dangote saying it was the highest turnout he has ever seen, and the turnout has declined since the 2003 general elections. Only Lagos state had an increased voter turnout by 1%, from 21% in 2019 to 22% in 2023.
