President William Ruto has cancelled Irene Masit's appointment as IEBC commissioner.

Irene Cherop Masit's appointment and term in the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission's position are to be terminated immediately, according to a gazette notice published on Wednesday in accordance with the power granted by Article 251(6) of the Constitution.
Irene Masit was advised to resign from her position as an IEBC commissioner by Justice Aggrey Muchelule's panel.
Muchelule said that the IEBC commissioner's charges were validated.
According to the tribunal, the evidence showed that Masit had engaged in flagrant wrongdoing and had broken the Constitution during the 2022 general elections.
The commission of Justice Aggrey Muchelule has recommended that Irene Masit, an IEBC member who is presently on suspension, be sacked.

On December 20, the tribunal's hearing regarding Masit got underway.
She is one of the four IEBC commissioners whose terms were terminated by President William Ruto on December 2, 2022.
Others were former commissioners Justus Nyang'anya and Francis Wanderi and vice chair Juliana Cherera.
The three, however, left Masit, who maintained her innocence despite accusations against her.
Their termination resulted from a suggestion made by the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.
According to JLAC, the four petitions that asked to have the four removed from office met the requirements.
The petitions alleged flagrant wrongdoing, constitutional infringement, and ineptitude.
The Muchelule tribunal, whose purpose was to look into the four's actions during the elections on August 9, was also suggested to be established by the JLAC report.
