The National Youth Service (NYS) terms and conditions have been added to the Taskforce on Police Reforms' two-month extension by President William Ruto.
President Ruto said that NYS serves with dedication and that their terms of service need to be improved while speaking in Gilgil on Friday during the NYS passing out a procession.
"I have ordered the Taskforce to get an additional two months to include the terms and conditions of the National Youth Service to ensure that it joins the other discipline services. It would ensure that the men and women who serve with commitment, sacrifice, and dedication are considered, according to President Ruto.
The former Chief Justice David Maraga's report, which aims to close operational deficiencies in the police service and enhance working conditions for security officers in the nation, was welcomed by President Ruto.

Kenya Prisons Service (KPS) and the National Police Service (NPS) (KPS) are responsible for identifying the legal, policy, administrative, institutional, and operational barriers to effective service delivery. The Taskforce will review and recommend improvements to the terms and conditions of service.
The Maraga-led team will also assess and make recommendations for improvements in all other topics incidental to the best service delivery, including all issues about the officers' wellbeing in NPS and KPS cadres.
Ruto stated in a Gazette Notice published on December 21 that the Taskforce's mandate is to review the human capital management and development policies to examine and review standards and practices in recruitment, deployment, transfers, training, career progression, performance-based and competitive promotions, reward, exit, and post-exit management.
According to the head of state, the task committee will also make recommendations for improvements that will improve professionalism, meritocracy, and morale.
