The Narok Country government has unveiled a Kes71 million water project in Suswa, Narok East Sub-County to pump water from the dry port water project.
Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu stated that water will be pumped from the neighbouring Naivasha Dry Port to benefit residents of Iseneto, Oloshaiki, Oltanki, Duka Moja Township and surrounding homesteads.
The project will be a relief to many residents who have had to travel for many kilometres to access water for their families.
Speaking during the launch of the water project, Ntutu said the implementation of the water project is in line with the 2023-2027 County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) as the residents had prioritized the water project during the public participation forums.

“This water project will eventually bring to an end the perennial water shortage in Suswa ward. The water will be used for both domestic and livestock consumption,” he said.
The governor was accompanied by Narok East Member of Parliament Ken Kiloku, a host of Members of the County Assembly and County Executive Committee Members (CEC).
Narok East Member of Parliament, Ken Kiloku, confirmed that the water project entails a storage tank, piping and water pumps and will be completed in the time allocated so as to benefit the residents.
Further, Kaloku lauded the government for the water project saying access to clean water was the main challenge to residents and especially during the prolonged dry spells.
Water sold in the area has risen from Kes5 to Kes20 per 20 litres jerrican that many people could not afford.
The launch of the project comes a few days after the County Governor launched Kes3 billion development projects to be implemented in the 30 wards of the county.
Governor Ntutu said the projects will be implemented depending on the needs of the people as prioritized in the public participation forums.
