The Speaker of the Senate, Amason Kingi, has come under fire from the opposition leader, Raila Odinga, for abusing his power.

Insisting that another branch of government cannot indict Parliament, Odinga asked Kingi to implement the Senate leadership changes in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya.

Odinga, who first visited the Parliament Buildings today, urged the Speaker to make the necessary adjustments and break the impasse between the Majority and Minority sides.

The man stated that the Speaker of the Senate is adamant about implementing the modifications that the house leadership agreed to at the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Parliamentary group meeting.

Odinga continued, "I want to implore the Speaker to permit the impact of the changes".

As pandemonium shook the House for the fourth time two weeks ago and Kingi failed to make alterations to the Minority wing, citing a court injunction, Senate proceedings were delayed for 15 minutes.

Although Senate Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo wrote to Kingi to request that he not implement the modifications, at the same time, the matter was being heard and decided. Azimio la Umoja's wing chose to wait for the court's ruling blocking the amendments.

But, Odinga has stated that there is no need for further delays because an independent government body cannot bring charges against the Bicarmel House.

"They claim to have a Political Parties Dispute Tribunal order, they claim. The tribunal cannot indict Parliament, according to Odinga".

As a result of the changes, Senator Ledama Ole Kina of Narok will take over as Minority Whip from Senator Fatuma Dullo of Isiolo.

As the Deputy Minority Whip, Kina will be replaced by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

Dullo was one of the nearly 30 Jubilee Party members who vowed to cooperate with President William Ruto in direct opposition to the demands of the Azimio alliance.
