The Moi International Airport in Mombasa was honoured for its outstanding customer service by the Airports Council International (ACI), the voice of international airports.

The renowned Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey, which records passengers' experiences at all airport passenger contact points at more than 300 airports worldwide, was used to determine the award, according to a statement sent to the newsroom today by Mr Luis Felipe de Oliveira, World Director General of ACI. He congratulated MIA on the achievement.

"The recognition of MIA's excellence in customer service comes after a hard period for the aviation business, defined by the Covid-19 pandemic,' added Oliveira.

He claimed that despite its challenges, the airport had kept its focus on providing a positive customer experience and proving its competence.

"I congratulate Moi International Airport's whole crew on their achievement in the Airport Service Quality Awards." Oliveira said.

The airport community, which consists of airport personnel and a variety of other stakeholders, is said to be the driving force behind the awards chosen by travellers, according to the director general.

The Kenya Airports Authority's (KAA) Managing Director, Mr Alex Gitari, expressed his gratitude for the recognition in his remarks and noted that the Authority constantly strives to improve and delight its customers' experiences.

"We sincerely thank our clients for their insightful feedback, which motivates us to keep enhancing our service offerings". Mr Gitari said.

With nearly 400 member airports in 95 countries, Airport Service Quality is the premier benchmarking and measuring program for airport customer experience.

It comes barely a month after JKIA was awarded The STAT Times Award as the top cargo airport in Africa.

According to Alex Gitari, director of Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the event took place in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Given that it has made significant investments in infrastructure and facilities for perishable items like flowers, the award would strengthen JKIA's position as Africa's top provider of cargo infrastructure.

A prestigious award that honours accomplishments and excellence in cargo operations and air transport services globally is the STAT Trade Times International Awards of Excellence.
