According to President William Ruto, the dangerously erroneous notion that people can get illicit weapons and band together to perpetrate crimes must end.
He named some of the illegal activities that the government has worked to stop, including livestock rustling and banditry.
On Friday, he spoke during the Officer Cadets Commissioning Parade at the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet, Nakuru County.

The President lamented that armed bandits have been holding hostages in some areas of the nation for many generations.
"We shall eradicate banditry ruthlessly. Ruto declared that every bandit who challenges the government and attempts any illegal activity willtake place".
Every bandit will be held accountable, he insisted.
Every youngster must return to school, and every illegal firearm must be turned in voluntarily or by force.
Dr Ruto gave the military the go-ahead to repair all devastated schools with the Ministry of Education so classes may resume as usual.
He praised the Kenya Military Academy for using a cutting-edge method of instruction that has enabled the Kenya Defense Forces to address challenging and developing security concerns.
The President then visited the National Defence University in Kenya and checked over the projected Lanet Regional Hospitals under construction.
President William Ruto has ordered the military to collaborate with the Ministry of Education to allow students to resume their studies to repair the schools that bandits looted.
The chief of State emphasized the Kenya Defence Forces' necessity to use a futuristic strategy for professional growth.
He referenced Article 21, which stipulates that upholding the rights and fundamental freedoms outlined in the Bill of Rights is the total responsibility of the State and every state entity.
He stated that it is imperative to stop the dangerously incorrect notion that people can obtain illegal weapons, organize to commit murder, robbery, violence, and other crimes, displace, torture peaceful communities, cause misery, and create instability.
He expressed certainty that the nation could depend on the KDF and the rest of the security, including the Ministry of Internal security, to protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity Republic of Kenya as required by the constitution without any issues.
