Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula has dismissed demands by cleophas malala, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General, for parties to dissolve and join the ruling party
Wetangula's statement comes barely a week after malala asked him and amason kingi to resign from party positions because they are now government officials.
"He should resign and allow us to engage the next party leader of FORD Kenya on matters dissolution. He cannot contribute because he is a State officer and State officers are not allowed to contribute on matters political parties and participate in politics. That is the position of the constitution," Malala said.
"They are both lawyers, let them resign and allow us to engage the new party leaders and persuade them," Malala said, adding, "These parties are as good as dissolved, it's only that they have not accepted that they are no longer politically viable," he said.

Speaking during a church Harambee in Kakamega county, the national assembly speaker said that kenyans are democratic and should be allowed to make their own political choices. Cleophas malala took over from veronica maina as the party secretary general after losing the Kakamega gubernatorial seat. malala has been named as a gun for hire for president William ruto, a claim malala denies,
"Yes, I am a gun-for-hire for William Ruto. I don't care whatever name you give me so long as my president in 2027 will be elected by a landslide and so long as I achieve a super-majority as the ruling party in the next parliament," he said.
He made the exact requests to Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi, the ANC's party leader, and Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua, the Maendeleo Chapchap party's leader.
