Nyandarua County is in the final stages of upgrading the Maili-Inne trading centre in Ndaragwa and the Engineer trading centre in Kinangop to municipalities.
The Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr Zacharia Njeru, and Nyandarua Governor Dr Moses Kiarie Badilisha had a productive meeting in his office where they discussed issues regarding the upgrading and eventual gazette of the towns, subject to fulfilment of the remaining conditions.
The County Government has already set aside property for its implementation, the Governor stated, and they are pleased that the upgrading of the various trading hubs into townships will be of greater benefit. They also discussed the affordable housing project.
“There are many benefits that come with upgrading, and it is our intention to not just target the two municipalities, but equally upgrade several towns into townships and urban centers for better service delivery,” Badilisha noted.

Earlier, at the county Assembly, the report on awarding of the municipal charters and upgrading of the two towns was adopted by the House paving way for the final stages of elevating these two major towns.
Njeru also approved Governor Badilisha’s request for immediate replacement with a friendly and cooperative registrar at the land office.
“I thank you for heeding my request to have a new person to manage our registry, and who is willing to serve our people. I now look forward to having operations moved to Ol Kalou under a new leader who has the interests of our people at heart,” said Badilisha.
