As he led his followers in protest on March 27, 2023, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga engaged in ongoing confrontations with the Police.
In Kawangware, a Nairobi suburb, Mr Odinga spoke to and moved among thousands of his supporters.
He emphasized that William Ruto, the president, must work to lower living expenses.
"We in Azimio argue that living expenses must decrease. I'm referring to fuel, sugar, and maize flour costs. Are you in accord? Until the demands are fulfilled, Mr Odinga, who came in second place behind President Ruto in the elections of August 2022, has vowed not to give up on his cause.

"We also want the server (for the elections) to be opened."
The leader of NARC-Kenya, Martha Karua, who served as Mr Odinga's running mate in the August 2022 elections, is with him. Wiper Party ticket Kalonzo Musyoka, George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party, and Eugene Wamalwa are also included in the group (DAP-K).
As Mr Odinga's supporters engaged police officers in running battles in several of the Azimio strongholds in Nairobi in the morning, the rallies were anything but calm.
A group of police officers had been sent.
The protests were deemed illegal by the Inspector General of Police, IG Japhet Komme, yesterday.
In response to Mr Koome, Odinga dared the police chief to make an arrest rather than deploy his lesser officers.
He added that he has a constitutional right to demonstrate while reiterating that the protests will be nonviolent.
Additionally, Mr Odinga has declared that he will stage protests every Monday and Thursday until President Ruto accedes to his demands.
But, President Ruto referred to Mr Odinga as an economic terrorist and charged that through rallies, he had sabotaged the operations of several traders. The Head of State further declared that he would not allow Mr Odinga to be pressured into joining his government due to the demonstrations.
