The National Police Service Commission is vetting twelve candidates shortlisted last week to be Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service.
This comes after Edward Mbugua's resignation on March 10.
The 30 applicants were narrowed down to 12 candidates.
The screening will take place at the Kenya School of Government in Lower Kabete, Nairobi.
Bruno Shioso, the current commandant of the Kignajo Police College and a former police spokesperson; Douglas Kanja, the director of the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU); Birech David Kipkosgei, and Bunei Rono, the commander of the Eastern Region Police, are among those who have been shortlisted for the position.

Nyale Munga Gideon, Odera Tom Mboya, Makokha Vincent Kinas, Kabogo Jacinta Muthoni, Kiplagat Maurice Kipkoech, Kuraru Rosemary Sipatan, Mwatsefu Abdallah Komesha, and Lamet Judy Jebet are a few others.
The National Personnel Selection Committee (NPSC) has advised the applicants to bring their authentic National Identification Cards, academic transcripts, professional certifications, and other supporting documentation.
Also, the candidates were instructed to carry their clearance certificates from the Criminal Investigations Department, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, and Credit Reference Bureau.
The NPSC invited the general public to send its chairperson any written memos containing information about the shortlisted individuals.
Two deputy chiefs of the National Police Service, which Inspector General Japheth Koome leads, are in command of the Administration Police and the Kenya Police Service, respectively.
