Kisumu police are holding a 31-year-old man for hazardous driving after he crashed a vehicle into a Kondele cafe, injuring five people.

The guy allegedly fled in his father's Toyota Prado from Kibos at 9 p.m.

According to Nyanza Regional Traffic Chief Joseph Nganga, the culprit first hit a motorbike from behind before hurting him and two other pillion riders at the Kondele roundabout.

According to Nganga, the culprit did not stop and proceeded to ram into the food joint, where the five people eating supper escaped death by a whisker.

He claims that at that moment, irate boda boda operators pursued him as he drove into Kisumu Central police station, where he sought safety. Still, he was hit by two motor vehicles again.

According to Nganga, the seven injured were brought to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where they were treated for bruises and wounds before being discharged.

He claims the driver has been arrested and will be charged with driving violations.

The driver's parents told authorities that their son has a mental disability.
