On Wednesday, eighteen individuals were hospitalized after consuming meat from a dead cow in Songoliet village, Lemotit location, Kericho County.
The victims, including ten adults and eight children, ate meat from a cow belonging to one of the locals, who died on Sunday after being sick for some time.
According to Lemotit Location, Chief Bernard Rono, the cow's owner, asked the villagers to slaughter the animal and bury the flesh. Still, some of them allegedly removed parts of the carcass and consumed them.
After experiencing food poisoning symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea, the villagers were transported to the Londiani sub-county hospital for treatment.
