Waza News has discovered that several stores have yet to implement the price decrease for maize flour.

This comes as State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed announces a reduction in unga prices.

The State House Spokesperson said on Twitter that prices had been reduced to Ksh.159 and Ksh.160 depending on millers.

"Unga prices have begun to fall, just as President @WilliamsRuto promised Kenyans over the weekend." Prices have fallen to between Ksh159 and Ksh160, depending on the miller. "When the President took office last year, a 2kg packet cost around Ksh230," he tweeted.

On the other hand,ur investigation of several supermarkets and retail outlets shows a different image.

A two-kilogram bag of maize meal costs Ksh.189 to Ksh.231 in Naivas and Quickmart stores.

Ndovu is priced at Ksh.189, Mama at Ksh.198, Soko at Ksh.207, Dola and Jogoo at Ksh.208, and Hostess at Ksh.231.

Dennis Itumbi, Chief Administrative Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy, also stated the same unga prices.

He said President William Ruto's 'intellectual strength' was credited with the drop.

Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando tweeted: "Credit due, if this is true in all shops across the country, it is a positive development for now, though, hii ni kidogo sana in promises list."

"However, given the salad of false promises associated with UDA, skeptics are certain to doubt it until independently monitored by consumers," he added.



"Hiding jogoo prices?" asked another. "Only in grocery stores." Residential retail outlets (shops) charge 200/- for a 2kg packet and 100/- for a 1kg packet," Hiram Njau, a social media user, said.
